Lisbon Airport taxi prices: what you’ll actually pay
Updated · by GetVoolo, Lisbon
Short answer: a taxi from Lisbon Airport to the city center costs ≈€12–20 on the meter and takes ≈20 min. It's around 20% more at night (21:00–06:00), at weekends and on public holidays. Taxis wait directly outside arrivals. Uber and Bolt can't stop there, so their drivers pick up from a separate area a short walk away.

How Lisbon taxi fares work
Lisbon taxis are metered. The fare is a starting charge plus distance and time. There are two tariffs: the day tariff, and a night tariff about 20% higher that applies from 21:00 to 06:00, at weekends and on public holidays.
Under the long-standing rules, luggage carried in the boot costs an extra €1.60 per item.
2026 change: Portugal's transport regulator (AMT) published a new national taxi tariff in June 2026. It lowers the starting charge from €3.25 to €2.00, prices distance and time separately, and drops the luggage and pet supplements. Only a €0.80 charge for booking by phone remains. Its start was postponed after taxi associations objected. Depending on when you travel, your taxi may use either system. Either way, the meter and the receipt show what you were charged.
Where to find a taxi, Uber or Bolt
All arriving flights come in at Terminal 1. The official taxi rank is directly outside the arrivals exit. At busy times, especially when several flights land together, expect a queue.
Uber and Bolt drivers can't pick up at the arrivals kerb. Follow the pickup directions in the app to the ride-hailing area, a few minutes' walk from arrivals. Prices surge when demand is high, so check the fare in the app before you confirm.
A pre-booked driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a name sign, so there's no queue or walk.
How to avoid being overcharged
- Use the official rank outside arrivals, not someone offering a ride inside the terminal.
- Make sure the meter is switched on when you set off. Don't agree a round "fixed price" with a rank taxi.
- Check that the day tariff is being used on a weekday daytime trip. The night tariff is only for 21:00–06:00, weekends and public holidays.
- Ask for a receipt (recibo). It shows the fare and the taxi's details if you need to complain.
- Keep your destination address written down, or ready to show on your phone.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a taxi from Lisbon Airport to the city center?
≈€12–20 on the meter, taking ≈20 min, depending on traffic, the exact address and the time of day. Expect more at night, at weekends and on public holidays.
Are Lisbon taxis more expensive at night?
Yes. The night tariff, used from 21:00 to 06:00 and at weekends and on public holidays, is about 20% higher than the day tariff.
Do Lisbon taxis charge for luggage?
Under the long-standing tariff, yes: €1.60 per item in the boot. A new national tariff published in June 2026 removes the luggage charge, but its start was postponed, so ask the driver or check your receipt.
Where do I find Uber and Bolt at Lisbon Airport?
Not at the arrivals kerb. Ride-hailing drivers are not allowed to pick up there, so follow the directions in the Uber or Bolt app to the ride-hailing pickup area, a few minutes on foot from the arrivals hall.
Is a taxi or a pre-booked transfer better from Lisbon Airport?
For the city center in the daytime, a taxi or Uber/Bolt is usually fine. A pre-booked driver costs about the same (GetVoolo estimate €21–€25), but the price is agreed before you land, the driver meets you inside arrivals, and there's no queue. That matters most at night, with lots of luggage or children, or for longer trips to Sintra, Cascais and the Algarve.
