Lisbon Airport to Óbidos, Nazaré and Fátima

Updated · by GetVoolo, Lisbon

Short answer: all three are 1 to 1.5 hours' drive north, and the train isn't practical for any of them: take the coach. For Óbidos, Rodoviária do Oeste leaves from Campo Grande (about 1 h, about €8, pay the driver). For Nazaré and Fátima, Rede Expressos leaves from Sete Rios (about 1 h 45 and 1 h 30). From the airport, both coach stations are one metro ride with a single change. A pre-booked driver takes you door to door: GetVoolo estimates €72–€98 (Óbidos), €104–€142 (Nazaré) and €104–€142 (Fátima), per car.

Destination by destination

Óbidos

The Rodoviária do Oeste coach stops right outside the town walls, and you buy the ticket from the driver. By car you can’t drive into the old town: park outside the walls. The train takes over two hours, runs rarely and leaves you a 20-minute walk away.

Nazaré

There is no useful train: take the Rede Expressos coach from Sete Rios. Buy your ticket online or at the ticket office, as drivers don’t sell tickets. There are more departures in the morning than in the afternoon.

Fátima

The "Fátima" railway station is at Chão de Maçãs, about 25 km from the Sanctuary, with few connections. The Rede Expressos coach from Sete Rios is the practical choice. Around the big pilgrimages (12–13 May and 12–13 October), roads, coaches and hotels fill up: book early.

From the airport to the coach stations

  • Campo Grande (Óbidos): red line to Alameda, then the green line to Campo Grande.
  • Sete Rios (Nazaré and Fátima): red line to São Sebastião, then the blue line to Jardim Zoológico, next to the coach station.

When a driver makes sense

  • Groups and families: the price is per car, not per person. Vans seat up to 7, handy for pilgrim groups.
  • With luggage: you skip the metro change and the trip to the coach station.
  • Two towns in one day: on GetVoolo you can book a car and driver by the hour (2 to 12 hours, from €45/hour for a standard car) — say, Óbidos and then Nazaré.
  • Solo and travelling light: the coach is cheap and direct. That’s what we’d suggest.
