Uber and Bolt at Lisbon Airport: where to meet your driver and what it costs

Updated · by GetVoolo, Lisbon

Short answer: yes, Uber and Bolt both work at Lisbon Airport, but drivers are not allowed to pick up at the arrivals kerb. They wait in a dedicated ride-hailing zone inside car park P2, a few minutes’ walk from the arrivals exit, and the app shows you the way. A ride into the city center costs about €10–18 by day; Bolt is often a little cheaper than Uber, and both get more expensive when demand is high.

How to find the Uber and Bolt pickup point

Every arriving flight lands at Terminal 1, so this is the same for everyone.

  1. Collect your bags and walk out into the arrivals hall. Don’t go out to the kerb: that is the taxi rank, and Uber and Bolt drivers are not allowed to stop there.
  2. Walk past the Starbucks and follow the signs for P2 and the ride-hailing pickup (in Portuguese, TVDE).
  3. The pickup zone is inside car park P2, on the arrivals level, and it is reserved for Uber, Bolt and other ride-hailing cars. It takes a few minutes on foot.
  4. Request the ride once you have your bags. In the Uber app, Directions to pickup on the home screen walks you there.
  5. Before you get in, check that the number plate and the driver’s name match the app.

Book the ride while you are still inside the terminal, or make sure mobile data (roaming) is on, so you can still follow the driver in the car park.

Uber and Bolt prices are typical daytime fares; the app shows the exact price before you confirm, and it changes with demand. Taxi prices are estimated daytime totals. GetVoolo instant prices are fixed when you book, tolls included; if you ask drivers for offers instead, they set the price.

Uber, Bolt or a taxi?

Uber

App, price upfront

UberX is the standard car. Comfort gets you a newer car with more legroom, UberXL takes up to 6 people or a lot of luggage, and Uber Green is electric. You pay in the app.

Bolt

Often cheaper

Works the same way as Uber and uses the same pickup zone. It is often 10–20% cheaper for the same trip, with Comfort and XL options too. Compare both apps before you book.

Taxi

No app needed

The rank is right outside the arrivals exit, so there is no walk, but there can be a queue. Taxis run on the meter, and the night and weekend tariff is about 20% higher. See Lisbon Airport taxi prices.

Pre-booked driver

Price fixed before you fly

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name: no walk to P2, no queue and no surge. It makes the most sense at night, with children or a lot of luggage, and for Sintra, Cascais or the Algarve. On GetVoolo, drivers bid for your trip before you land.

When Uber and Bolt get more expensive

Both apps use dynamic pricing: when there are more passengers than drivers, the price goes up, often to 1.3 to 2 times the normal fare. It happens most:

  • When several flights land at the same time.
  • On Friday and Saturday nights, and late at night in general.
  • When it rains.
  • During big events and holiday weeks.

You see the price before you confirm, so there is no surprise afterwards. If it looks high, check the other app, or take a taxi from the rank.

Luggage, children and groups

  • A standard Uber or Bolt car takes about two large suitcases plus hand luggage. With more, choose UberXL or Bolt XL.
  • Portuguese law exempts taxis and ride-hailing cars from the child-seat rule, as long as children don’t sit in front. So don’t count on a child seat. See child car seats in Lisbon.
  • Five or six people need an XL car; one XL is usually simpler than splitting into two cars.

Taking an Uber or Bolt to the airport

Set Lisbon Airport as your destination. Ride-hailing cars drop passengers at the airport’s drop-off zones next to departures (Kiss & Fly or car park P8), and the driver’s app takes care of the route.

Flying from Terminal 2? Set Terminal 2 as the destination and the driver takes you straight there, with no shuttle bus. See the Terminal 2 guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can Uber pick up at Lisbon Airport?

Yes. Uber and Bolt drivers pick up in a dedicated ride-hailing zone inside car park P2, on the arrivals level, a few minutes’ walk from the arrivals exit. They are not allowed to stop at the arrivals kerb.

Where is the Uber pickup at Lisbon Airport?

In car park P2. From the arrivals hall, walk past the Starbucks and follow the signs for P2 and the ride-hailing (TVDE) pickup. In the Uber app, "Directions to pickup" shows the way.

How much is an Uber from Lisbon Airport to the city center?

About €10–18 by day, depending on the exact address and traffic, and more when demand is high. Bolt is often slightly cheaper for the same trip.

Is Bolt cheaper than Uber in Lisbon?

Often, by around 10–20% for the same trip, but not always. Both apps show the price before you confirm, so compare them when you land.

Is Uber or a taxi better from Lisbon Airport?

By day into the city they cost about the same. A taxi waits right outside arrivals with no walk; Uber and Bolt show the price upfront. At night and on weekends the taxi tariff is about 20% higher, while Uber and Bolt prices rise when demand is high.

Do Uber cars in Lisbon have child seats?

Usually not. Ride-hailing cars, like taxis, are exempt from Portugal’s child-seat rule as long as children sit in the back. If you need a seat, bring your own or book a driver who brings one.
